Left Sittin'
(Acrylics: 24x36))
Left Sittin'

I came across a photo of San Francisco Bay as viewed from the ocean side. Remembering my time in San Francisco, the song 'I left my heart in San Francisco' started to play in my mind. It was followed by the song 'Sittin' by the dock of the Bay'. I smiled as I recalled I would substitute Arizona for Georgia in the lyric 'I left my home in Georgia headed for Frisco Bay'. Focusing on the photo, I began to see it in different colors as each tune played in my mind. The painting is what I saw with my mind's eye. As I painted, I remembered all the things, places, and people I have left behind during my life span to date. At times, I had no choice or it was just life happening but at other times I was just running away for my own good. I honestly cannot remember all the reasons. When I arrived in the Bay Area, I would sit somewhere along the Berkely shoreline, or the Berkeley pier, from time to time and just think and reflect on my life. I would wonder what happened to those things, those places, those people, to me, and I would feel a twinge of sadness. My eyes would fill with tears but none would flow. The funny thing is I still think of them all, from time to time, up to and including my yesterdays. I just cannot seem to erase them out of my memory banks, housed deeply somewhere in my mind. The one change is the moments of recall these days give me twinges of happiness as well as sadness.
